Vilnius hosts European Commission’s Seminar on Rural Development Communication

This past March the city of Vilnius welcomed a DG AGRI seminar on Communicating Rural Development. The event looked at efficient communication strategies to support the implementation of EU rural development programmes.  EU officials, communication professionals, members of rural networks and local action groups gathered to discuss the best and most effective communication strategies in support of rural development policies and involved communities.

EURACSIS, the PRACSIS network of communication agencies, proved crucial to the success of this event. The Lithuanian agency AVENIRE displayed its expertise and mobilised its network to deliver appropriate solutions: from identifying suitable venues, to selecting skilled conference staff and assisting in translation services. Cooperation between PRACSIS and AVENIRE overcame difficult challenges to produce fruitful results. For instance, two interpreters travelled from Belgium to support six interpreters from Lithuania who, together, ensured high quality simultaneous interpretation in English, Lithuanian German, and French. AVENIRE was also of great assistance in recruiting hostesses and stewards who could speak both English and French fluently.

Teamwork is the key to success. PRACSIS and AVENIRE perfectly illustrated this principle, confirming the added value of a network such as EURACSIS.
